Football

Well, ‘Grimsby’ (blue team) won both games today, keeping them at the top of Kean league 3.  No goals scored by Kyle this week, though he did have a couple of useful touches of the ball.  I managed to capture a couple of these, seen here:

Brown water

DSC01475 I wandered out of the house to find Pinky Kylo stooped over his little green bucket, stirring something.  I asked him what he was doing and he told me that he was making something.  I asked him if it was soup and he replied, “No, it’s brown water”.  He added that the main ingredient for brown water was this, pointing toward a pile of sawdust, announcing that he called this ‘Woodcutter’s hay’.  He then went merrily back to his mixing.  Sometimes I wonder how simple things would be if we all applied the same logic as children!

Red letter day

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Kyle scored his first goal in the Kean kids league today and came very close to popping a second one in.  The opposition’s goalkeeper was very good and stopped several good attempts at goal, which sadly resulted in a 2-1 loss on their first game.  However, normal service was soon resumed when Tegan, the team’s star player stepped in to save the day in the second game and Kyle’s team won 7-3.  So one game won, one lost was today’s score-line, but more than that Kyle is really starting to be much more in amongst the action.  A happy Kyle today and a well earned ice cream at the end of it.  Well done Kyle!

Pink

Having been discussing with mum, the flamingo’s colouration due to it’s diet, Kyle had decided that he still liked shrimps and ate a whole big bowl of them.  He announced that he would like some more and mum said “MORE?” In an Oliver Twist’s beadle sort of tone.  Kyle reassured her that it was “OK mum, I won’t turn pink!”

Art

Kyle is on half term from school now, so filling in time is the order of the day.  He enjoys creating pictures in Tux paint, but to avoid any confusion, he also likes to annotate the objects in the pictures.  Here’s his latest effort - ‘Sunset picture’:

Brain biscuits and petals

Elena was baking some cakes that called for walnuts and she and I were both helping ourselves from the packet.  Kyle looked interested, so Elena handed one to Kyle to try.  On examining it for a moment, he concluded, “No thanks, I don’t like those ‘brain biscuits’”.  OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

A few days later again, we were watching TV and Elena, nursing Lara, said that she was her ‘petal’.  Kyle was looking on and so she added, “she’s my little petal and you are my big petal”.  Kyle looked at me and back to Elena, then said, “and dad is you’re big petal that’s about to fall off the flower!”  How nice, that my little boy thinks of me and wants me included in the family sentiment!
